The place that was

For those who might have been somewhat puzzled by my previous post of me wondering how natural the landscapes in our dutch nature reserves actually are, it may make some more sense if you know what beautiful a spot is now in the past. Have a look at the pictures bundled together in this post, and I hope you will see the beauty of it. Ah well, beauty, nature and nature conservation simply don’t need to go together, and on the positive side, let the hunt for new interesting locations begin.

Urban Bat

This little fellow I found when commuting on bike to work. Most other bikers were completely unaware of this little bat hanging from the ceiling of the tunnel above their heads, and it seemed like the bat didn’t care either. Using my compact camera I took this picture with some effort. Having parked my bike as a bit of insurance that people would notice me I used al my length to reach the ceiling of the tunnel. Making sure the bat was viewed from the front and those on bike from behind it created the atmosphere of mutual ignorance that struck me. Again it shows that with a little attention to our urban environment we can surely see nature finding it’s place there as well.

Najaar 2009 – Autum 2009

While I had only a short time during spring this year the morning that I did get to go was a nice one. It wasn’t much to start with though. Only when the sun was higher did it let itself see through the disappearing fog. An unexpected golden hue was the result, and all of a sudden images were to be made all around. Part of the results of this morning can be seen below.
